The integrity of your data will not be compromised in any way and you can delete these messages at any time. By doing this, you can have others immediately interacting with you. 2) We will analyze your genealogy to help you find other genealogists to work with, through our Matching technology. Why should I contribute my data? The Global Tree is the cornerstone to helping genealogists find their families. Contributing your data not only helps you find your ancestors, but you help thousands of others as well. After uploading your data, you will see how easily our web site allows you to interact with other genealogists searching for the same ancestors. You can change your mind anytime and delete your file.

The Northern Plains Archive Project No matter whether we marked the end of the millennium as 2000 or 2001, many of us seem to be in a mood for summing up and looking back. Since the mid-1980's, the Northern Plains Archive Project has been quietly laying the foundation for a place where we can turn for "the rest of the story." The dream began as a home for the common history of the plains, available at the turning of the millennium. A place where regular folks could turn, on their own terms, for the questions of "How did we get here?" and "How do I fit into all of this?" The stories of the generals, industrialists, politicians and church leaders are easy enough to find. The archive is an environment for the tales of the privates and NCO's, carpenters and masons, beat cops and shopkeepers, farmers and ranchers, the "unofficial" community leaders, and other people without whom the "official" history could not have occurred. It is built around a "deep map" that allows us to drill down through place and time to the stories that didn't necessarily make it into the books.

Very frequently we discover that our ancestors originate from an area of the British Isles with which we are unfamiliar. If we do not know the names of parishes or churches in the vicinity this can make researching difficult unless we consult reference books. This is where Parish Locator can help you. We have created a database of almost 25,000 parishes and churches throughout England, Scotland and Wales. From the full listing you are able to select a 'Home' parish around which you need to identify other churches. You can enter a distance in either miles or kilometers from the 'Home' parish and request a listing of all such churches from the database within that radius.
Parish Locator will run on a PC running Windows 95 or above. This new version published in January 2001 has been extended by around 10,000 additional churches and has been enhanced by showing the years between which records are known to exist and included in the Vital Parish Records as cataloged by the LDS. Also new to this version are the facilities to search by a part name or by County or Ordnance Reference number.
